Commissioned To Go
There’s a desire deep within each of us to make a difference, for our lives to count for something. We dream about leaving a dent behind that is bigger and longer lasting than our own selves. We hunger for a cause that is worthy of our very lives.
And yet sometimes we feel small, so small.
The scale of the problems that our generation faces is huge – poverty, injustice, loneliness and pain are like a virus eating away at our hope. It’s easy to be overwhelmed.
But it’s into that hurting and often dark world that Jesus commands us to “Go!” He sends us as the shining Light of the World, as a blazing beacon of hope. And he sends us together. Not alone and helpless, but as a radical movement of believers, alive and kicking by the power of the Spirit.
And he’s right there with us.
At Imagine 09 we’re going to be discovering afresh that we, the Church, are a movement with a purpose. And then, after 5 days of worship, teaching and campsite banter, we’re going to leave to get on with business. See you there!
